"Hi, I'm Kevin speaking on behalf of Expert Village on hiking. Consider this, if you're going to know that you're in shape for a hike like this, you're going to have to fill your backpack ahead of time several days in advance of the hike and put it all together. Wear that backpack and walk and find out if you're capable of carrying that kind of weight especially on an extended hike. You're going to want to have a test walk that's a considerable distance. If you don't do this you could find yourself in trouble out there in the middle of the wilderness somewhere not able to carry your own load and perhaps even having a hurt back or hurt knees as a result."
