" Hello, my name is Kevin Winsley. I’m with Offshore Sailing School and now on Expert Village, I’m going to talk about how to get a Colgate 26 away from the dock. What’s keeping us out of the dock right now is a couple of lines. There are two lines here at the bow, they’re called bowlines and I’m just going to step up onto the boat and I move down to the stern and here at the stern and we have a stern line which is attached to the mooring bow. So just before we cast off, Craig if I could have you go forward and standby the cast off of the bow please. Excellent, Jill, if I can ask you to take the helm and just hold it centered for now. Very nice and I’m going to get the motor started making sure that I’m in neutral making sure I have the throttle set in the right position, make sure I have gas and I don’t think I need chokes, I started the engine quite recently, let’s see how we do. Great, very nice. So the first step is casting of the stern. Okay Craig go ahead and cast off of the bow please. Come back into the cockpit. Very nice. Okay Craig if you would like to take the fender off for me please. There you go thank you, we can slow that down below and then, Jill as the boat starts to move forward you’ll be able to steer the boat, so you have steerage now. Look forward, great and just trying to keep right down the middle of this channel."
