"OK, the next violation that I would like to talk about is goal tending. What goal tending is defined as, is any interference with the ball while it is near or on the rim. So, if you're able to jump up or if you're tall enough to be able to touch the ball while it's bouncing on the rim before it goes in and to knock it back out, that would be called goal tending, resulting in the other team getting awarded the points. The points awarded depends on the shot being taken, be it a two pointer or a three pointer. If they were shooting from behind the three point line and you jumped up and interfered with the ball while it was on the rim, then they would be awarded three points. If they were doing a lay- up shot or inside of the perimeter, they would be awarded two points. OK. Another example of goal tending would be if a person took a shot and on the way down, you jumped up and knocked it away, that would be goal tending, as well. So, stay away from goal tending violations, if possible."
