"Hi, I’m Kate I’m here with Zoar Outdoor on behalf of Expert Village and we’re going to talk about hiking today. We’re going to discuss trekking poles or walking poles. Trekking poles you can get at your local retailer for outdoor equipment. These things are really great to have. Most of them are telescoping, if you don’t you can always use ski poles. They can adjust to if you’re walking uphill, you can have them shorter or if you’re walking downhill, you can have them longer. They always have the wrist and a nice steady grip. When you are walking these are great, it helps take the weight off your legs and your knees and your hips and you’re going to want to walk with opposite hands, opposite feet. These are also really good if you’re going to be crossing anything that’s unstable a stream bed, this is more support for you to walk. So when you are crossing a stream bed or unstableness you have two extra pieces of support for you to walk across with. So when I hike sometimes I just use one, which is total option and the other one I put on my backpack. This allows me to use my hands and I still have the pole for support or you can use two and because there are these straps you can still use your hands to scrabble up anything that’s like a rock wall or what have you. These are a great option to have when you go hiking."
