"Hi, I’m Kate I’m with Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com and we’re going to be talking about hiking today. When you’re hiking you always want to leave word of what you’re doing for the day, when you’ll be back, the approximate time you’re going to be back and just how many days you plan on being out. When I go hiking whether it’s a day trip or a multi day trip, I have a map with an itinerary and I always leave it on my dash board, this way if a ranger comes by they know where I’m going, how many days I’m going to be out and how many people are with me. I also tell someone who’s going to bayside or at home, so if you have like a mom or anyone who is going to stay at home the whole time you’re out, knows where you’re going, knows when you want to be back or should be back, that would be good. You have cell phones too, these are good in case anything should happen or if you’re just going to be late and it’s not an emergency, you should definitely let the person bayside know. That hey, we’re staying out for a day longer, no big deal we should be back tomorrow by noon time, if we’re not back by noon time then you should seriously get concerned and give them the appropriate measures to do. Whether it’s coming out to your car to see where you are or to get a hold of a ranger who can go find you. It’s very important that you at least let people know what your plan is and what you are doing."
