How to Catch a Ground Ball

"My name is Juan Carlos with Expert Village, and today we're going to be talking about softball for beginners. In this take, we're going to teach you how to field a ground ball. A couple of things you have to understand is that your feet have to be in this position. If you're a right hander, you want to have the left foot slightly in front of the other, while the shoulder is slightly pointed to the base that you usually throw. That's usually to first base. The second thing is the glove has to be on the ground. If the glove is not on the ground, the ball will go through your legs. The third thing is making sure the glove is wide and making sure you keep your eye on the ball the whole way as it's coming towards you. As my all-star shortstop McGee will demonstrate. Three important steps on fielding a ground ball. Step one; making sure your feet are in the right position. You do not want to have your feet close together. If you're a right hander, you want your left foot slightly in front of the other, slightly pointing the shoulder to normally where you throw the ball, that's first base. The second thing is making sure the glove's on the ground. If the glove is not on the ground, the ball will go through your legs. The third thing is making sure the glove is wide and both hand as you follow the ball into the glove as you field the glove and bringing it towards your body."
