"My name is Juan Carlos with Expert Village, and today we're going to be talking about softball for beginners. Sliding has to be done in this manner and this manner only. One; if you do not run hard, the slide will not be effective because your momentum will not carry to the base that you need to. Another thing you also have to understand is that your hands have to be off the ground to prevent the momentum from decreasing. The other thing is you also want to be in a figure 4 position so that way the slide is effective, so you're able to reach the base with the far foot possible. As she's coming in. The most important detail about going down and sliding is one, that you're in the figure 4 position. You're able to reach with one leg or the other. It doesn't matter which leg you prefer. The second thing is that your hands are off the ground. That prevents momentum from decreasing as you begin to go down and as you're sliding through to reach the base."
