"Hi, my name is Juan Carlos with Expert Village. Today I'm going to teach you how to become a competitive baseball player. In this segment we're going to talk about strength training specifically in the upper body. Now we don't want to lift too heavy in the upper body especially around the shoulders or any types of joints to prevent injury and also any other muscles that you might use for flexibility when you're playing baseball. For chest, you can definitely do the bench or or any type of dumb bells that have to do withe chest. For your shoulders you can use lighter weights pull ups and triceps especially dips. Dips are actually the most effective way you can really grow your triceps. Now it's very important that you're staying consistent with the strength training. Strength training is specifically in the off season, will improve your power as far as your hitting your velocity as far as throwing. You can actually improve your range and your upper body motion in any types of aspects of the game. You want to be able to do your strength training at least two to three times a week. Now if you are able to do it more than that throughout the week about four to five times as much more effective. But it's more and more effective you get at least one or two days of rest in between cause rest is as more important."
