"All right, so when Dave's ready to come down, he'll just yell down to me, "Ready to lower." "Ready to lower." And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to come down into my brake position with my right hand I can even use both hands at this point and I'll just slowly let slack down. And I'm going to keep an eye on Dave to make sure he's good, and what he's going to do, is he's going to lean back just like he's in a recliner, keep his butt out and just walk down the side of the face, and I can keep him as slow or fast as he's comfortable going, until he's on the ground. When he gets down, he'll say, "All right I'm off belay." "Off belay." And that's it. Things to think about when you're belaying, the shorter your slide phase is the better -- it's more efficient. Some people do a huge one. And that just takes a lot of energy. It's not worth. Another thing to think about is you always want to have a mat down where your rope's going to go so that it doesn't get full of dirt. That degrades the rope, and your rope is the most important safety feature. So, you want to keep that clean."
