"Hi! I’m Kate with Zoar Outdoor on behalf of expertvillage.com. I am here to talk to you about hiking and backpacking. When backpacking and planning your meals, there are a few tricks that I like to keep doing every time I go out. I try and have meals that can be used in one cup or pot. This has a cover. This is my boil essentially. I am going to heat my breakfast. If I have to cook lunch and my dinner, it is all going to be eaten out of this along with my coffee or any drinks that I might have after dinner or before breakfast. We will all be using this. Inside I always have a spoon because I don’t necessarily need a fork with what I am eating and a little knife to help cut anything that I might need. This is to help clean out my stuff and it all gets shoved in here. The food should be really easy to make, pretty high in calories and pretty satisfying but when you are backpacking, everything is going to taste good generally speaking. ___ ___ meals you can be using this container if you wanted but if you are making a rice mixture on your own, you can put it in a separate baggie, label it, make this huge concoction and put it in your own baggie. You want to have as little waste as possible when you come out here so if you were bringing oysters I would probably take this off and leave it at home and just bring this and write oysters on the top of it. You can also purchase the dehydrated backpacker meals which all you have to do is add water to and they are really easy to pack. They are really good too but you might not want to do that for every night you are out backpacking. I like to put everything in a stuff sack. It is nice and together, it’s all my food always going to be in here; snacks, drinks, desert which is very important. It will actually get your calories for the day. You have it all in one bag. It makes it really easy access for you. You don’t have to think about at night when you are cold and you are tired. You are just going to pull out this bag. All your food and all your utensils are going to be in this bag. It is really easy to use. Having one pot meals means that you can boil water and make your dinner in just one pot. It is probably the easiest way to go when you first start off. You can get into baking and stuff later on when you get better at it. I’m still at the one pot stage. So hopefully your meals will be delicious. "
