How to Join a Roller Derby Team

"Hi this is Jerry Selzter from the International Roller Derby League for Expert Village. You can look in your individual area, see if there is a league, contact them and find out about how you do you join the league. There is a fee generally. Obviously, you have to train and see if you're able to skate at the level they're skating. There now is a WFTDA which sets the rules for the members for the women?s flat track derby association and they all follow it. Very few of the women?s leagues today have bank tacks, some do, but most of them simply mark an area on a flat floor either a skating rink or some other surface and use that and compete in Roller Derby that way. They do not have the advantage of a bank to create great speed. However, they also are less likely to get severely injured because they cannot achieve great speed. It has grown to the point where now they're skating nationally in the United States and one group has a national championship. Eventually, it will become world wide."
