"Hi, Jerry Seltzer for Expert Village talking again about roller derby. The track that we created was a bank track and it eventually got to the point it was Masonite, it was built on supporting flex steel so that if a skater fell he or she would almost bounce right back up. Very few of the women's leagues today have banked tracks, some do, but most of them simply mark an area on a flat floor, either a skating rink or some other surface and use that and compete in roller derby that way. They do not have the advantage of a bank to create great speed, but however they are also less likely to get severely injured because they can't achieve great speed. "
