"Hi this is John again. Now I’m going to be talking a little bit about the buddy system. The buddy system has been around for years, you should never dive alone, and you should always have someone with you when you’re diving. This is in case you run out of air, or are in a situation where you need to be rescued or you need to rescue someone else. Also, people on the shore need to know where you are and how long you will be diving in a situation or wherever you will be. A dive flag is used to let boaters know that there are some divers in the water. It’s a recognized law for a boater not to approach within 100 feet of a dive flag because divers may be ascending the surface in the area and they will be hit by propellers. Also do not exceed your training. Divers are killed each year by diving into places they’re not trained to be diving in, such as wrecks, caves or diving too deep. "
