"Hi I’m John Hickey with Florida Surf Lessons. You can reach us at www.floridasurflessons.com. We are located out of Central and South Florida. Now I am going to continue with doing step 4 breaking down and elaborating more in-depth. We are right at this stage where you brought your leg up. Once it is about here and it comes time to pop up. Now what you want to do is as you are popping up you want to go straight back. Notice how I pivoted my feet. Now remember what I said is you have to let this foot be parallel angle to the back of the board off at 45. You want those knees bent. When you are going to pop up and you are right here, you do not want to bend your leg because if you bend your leg and you are moving your hip and your head is out, you are going to have a harder way of slipping underneath you. You want to go straight up with this. If you are leaning over like this, you are going to go flying off the board cause remember this board is on top of water. Any pressure I put with my toe like, that the board is going to make a little move like that and you are going to end up flying off the board. If you put your foot out too far you are going to start falling back slowly so you want to make sure you have your weight distributed on board and your balance right underneath. "
