"Hi my name is John Hickey with Florida Surf Lessons. We are located out of Central and South Florida. I am going to be talking more about the marine life hazards. Now the key to marine life is knowing what is out there because if you know what is out there you can avoid certain situations and avoid getting hurt. A lot of what is out there is dangerous and we want to be avoiding that. Next are sharks, sharks play a big role because they are always going to be in the ocean. There is nothing we can do about that so we kind of work around it. Now if you do see a shark what you want to do and if it is close to you, put your arms and legs on the board and you don’t want to panic. If you panic it is all over with after that because panicking will cause that shark to panic and it will put him in a dangerous environment so he is capable of biting someone. The minute that shark starts to go away is that you want to calmly paddle in. You do not want to make too much noise because making noise creates almost like a sound as a fish would be in distress. It is almost like ringing a dinner bell. So you want to avoid that so we will be right back in just a moment."
