"Hi I am John Hickey with Florida Surf Lessons. You can reach us at www.floridasurflessons.com. We are also located out of Central and South Florida. What I am about to talk to you about is a few more hazards to watch out for when you are surfing. Marine life is a major fear. Every time when you are coming out to the beach you always want to read what the lifeguard has written down for the reports because it is a key to knowing and understanding what is out there. If you understand what is out there you are a lot safer as a person. If you go read that sign and there are manowars are out there you can seriously get hurt and not know what to do. So first thing we are going to do is talk about different types of marine life. We are going to start off with sea lice and jelly fish. Sea lice are baby microscopic jelly fish larva. They create almost a mosquito bite sensation on you. What you want to do is do not scratch these. Put maybe a little bit a Calamine Lotion on it; it will help out a little bit but basically just leave it alone and don’t itch it because if you scratch it they will start to spread and they will stay longer and make it a lot worse on you. So we will be right back. "
