"Hi, I'm John Millar, here with Expert Village to teach you how to punt a football. Another aspect to talk about is if you're not actually going to punt the ball and that's a fake punt. It could be 4th down and short yardage, you could be near mid-field where you're now taking a huge risk if you get stuffed giving their team great field position. You can try bringing out your punt team and let them run an offensive play to go for a first down. If you get stopped, you still have a lot of field to work with or your defense can try to make a defensive stop. Maybe you get a first down, maybe you go all the way and get a touchdown. That's a fake punt. There's all different kinds. The punter could line up and they might snap the ball to the personal protector. In that case, you job is to jump, turn around, and look over your head acting like the ball was snapped over your head to draw defenders not paying attention to you so the personal protector can get the first down. Another option is that sometimes the defense will bring their cornerbacks in as added defenders to block the punt. If your coach sees this happening, he'll have plays in advance to go against this. The long snapper will snap you the ball and instead of punting it, just catch the ball, take one step and throw it to your bullet."
