"Hello! This is John with Expert Village. This next segment is going to be about clearing a jam. What happens when firing a semiautomatic weapon is that when you fire the gun the slide moves back and ejects the spin cartridge. The slide moves forward, load a new cartridge in the magazine and then you’re ready to fire again. What happens in a jam is that the spin cartridge gets stuck upright in the magazine in the slide. What we’ve done here is create a stimulation of what’s called a stovepipe. Basically the magazine, the slide, once you eject the round got stuck is now trapped between the barrel and the slide. So what you do now is clear that. To do that, pull out the magazine, place that down. We’re going to move the slide back and eject the round. Pull the side back again, lock it in place, take your magazine, place that back in the weapon, release the magazine, release the slide; you’re ready to fire. This is John with Expert Village. "
