"Hello! This is John from Expert Village. This next segment is going to be in stances. There’s two stances; your basic stance, which is what most people shoot, and the weaver stance, which is far more accurate and easier way to shoot your handgun. Pick up the handgun, fingers straighten on the trigger, make sure there’s no rounds in the chamber or in the magazine or barrel. Now, shoot in the basic stance. Wrap your weak hand along the outside on the weapon squeezing it shut. Keep your feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent and put the handgun out in front of your face, line up the sights and that’s the basic stance. Now the weaver stance is a little bit different, you saw it earlier, a modified version of it. You’re going to put your shoulders toward the target. Your weak hand is going to cuff the bottom of the firearm so you have proper bone support. Pull up the weapon, line it up, and that’s weaver stance. With the support here is much more accurate than with the basic stance. This is John with Expert Village. "

on 8/8/2009 While I don't necessarily agree with boltguy's "Weaver" technique, I do indeed agree with him on the validity of this "expert". This guy is a danger to all of you out there who are new to handguns. As a firearms instructor for more than thirty years I can tell you that you should NOT listen to anything this guys tells you. Go an "buy" expert instruction from a certified firearms instructor. The NRA can tell you how to find one in your area.

on 8/2/2008 Oh Christ. Beginner shooters, pay no attention to this guy. He doesn't know what he's talking about. The Weaver stance entails having your primary arm straight, slightly pushing forward. Meanwhile, your support arm's elbow is bent toward the ground, NOT tucked against your body, and it's pulling back slightly. This slight push-pull with your arms creates isometric tension to assist in steadying your firearm. Seek professional instruction from an actual certified instructor, not some tool who calls himself an "expert", who posts videos displaying his incompetence.
