on 8/8/2009 I also wanted to say that this guy, always mumbles. It's difficult to understand him because of this.

on 8/8/2009 This guy needs to learn a lot more about the safety aspects of a handgun before doing any more teaching. The worst gun handling I've seen in a long time. It appears that YouTube and Expert Village doesn'r care about the quality of the instructors in these videos because I've yet to find one that's even safe.

on 11/30/2008 Decent video. Like to see gun features operated from most-likely hand and finger, however. Decock for a right-handed firer should be with the firing hand thumb. The way the weapon is handled in this video seems a bit contrary to normal, and safe operation.
Would also be advantageous to allow viewers to see a close-up of the moving parts and their labels (F/S, etc) because some viewers are studying the piece for purchase comparisons.
Finally, since it's named "Safety devices..." show a right handed firer operating the safety lever using the best available finger (right thumb).
Is it ambidextrous in this model?

Video Transcript

"Hello! My name is John, we’re here on behalf of Expert Village and this is our second segment. This segment is about the safety of the firearm itself. Today we’re going to be shooting an HK, Heckler & Koch, 40 USP. Now, always before you handle any firearm you want to make sure that it’s unloaded. It’s a pistol semiautomatic, the slide is back and the magazine is emptied from the pistol itself. Now, on this pistol there are 2 safeties. The first one is obviously here, fire and safe. You cannot shoot the firearm while it’s on safe mode. We’re going to push this slide forward and you’re going to see the second safety. Now with the hammer back, it’s ready to fire. If we push this again up further, the hammer is decocked and the weapon is still safe. You cannot fire this weapon as it is in this current state. Now I go back and put the weapon on safe. That keeps you up and safe and not contain a fire and will not discharge at all. My name is John on behalf of Expert Village. "
