"On behalf of Expert Village this is John Anderson we are going to show you one of the widely use arm locks in Judo it is called Juji Gatame cross lock. You can get it from ground or you can get it from a throw. I will explain the mechanics of this technique. Most people don't use it correctly. You must pull straight up towards your face like so. This leg turns underneath the shoulder blade to keep him from pulling his arm out, this goes and you catch your heel on the under shoulder. This knee blocks his legs from coming around. You pull you close your legs very tightly and then raise your hip. This is the effect of the arm lock. So this knee keeps him from traveling around (come around please). Now this arm lock does 3 things you have hyper extension, you have share, you share his arm, actually it is 3 things. Hyper extension which is here and sharing which is here. This is a very dangerous arm lock most people just pull it straight to the chest and the person sometimes could flip his feet around and get out of it. This is how most people get out of it but if I use the shearing effect (turn your feet around) that is called Juji Gatame. Watch again how I'm getting this here and here some people jump across both feet. I prefer in controlling here and then swing my foot underneath his shoulder blade as I go down. That is from keeping in pulling his arm out, pull it towards your right armpit or towards the little finger always never towards the thumb. Towards the little finger, keep your legs extensively tight, keep your head up and just raise your hip. Juji Gatame thank you. "
