This self-defence technique that I just demonstrated is called delayed sword. It has three major elements and I am going to explain it slowly as to what you just saw. As the opponent punches me, the first thing I want to do is remove my face from the target from the space by retreating; it is we call a neutral stance. And this space created, gives me space now to injure him, perhaps injure the weapon, which is being thrown at me by block. If it does not injure, at least it is in the way, okay. So the first move I drop back, the other hand, which is hanging down here is brought up in a position of a guard. If I miss this block for some reason or other, this still has an option of blocking or it is also a position to use as another offensive weapon if I desire. So the first movement I retreat, I blocked on the arm, hitting one of the nerves and put my hand under appropriate guard. Now what I want to do to prevent him from advancing the main ingredient here is to use a front kick, and I want to kick from the waist down because I want to actually not only to stop his forward motion but I want to change his height. I could stop him here but he can still reach me with some of his weapons. If I bend him over from the waist it changes his body position, it makes it harder for him to hit. So the second element after I block, I am going to kick him in the groin or the bladder to bend him forward. As I plant my foot down the gravity and the forward motion of my body adds to the power of this third blow, which is the hand sword to the side of the neck. You are hitting right at the jugular vein, right here, does not require a lot of power, but you have of plenty of force and that finishes him off. Then I drop back into a safe area, which we call recovery. So let me go back over this again, the three elements are the block, the kick, and the chop at the side of the neck, that one is delayed sword.
