"Hi! I’m Jim Dowd at zoaroutdoor.com. We are here for expertvillage.com and this session is all about fly casting and what you need to know to sling it out there. On the pick up and the back cast, it is important to remember to start slow and smoothly accelerate and abruptly stop the line. So what I am doing here is I’m lifting slowly, the line comes up off the water, the rod is about 45 degrees, accelerate and stop. What I’ve done is I’ve transferred the weight of the line into the rod, and slinging it behind me. "
