"Hi! I’m Jim Dowd with Zoar Outdoor. I’m here on behalf of expertvillage.com to talk with you about fly casting and fly fishing. Yarn fly is a very simple thing to construct, and yet it is a very efficient tool to use in your fly casting practice. Here it looks with 2 contrasting colors, but essentially all you need to do is pull out about a 1 inch section of yarn from a package. As you can see, I already cut off a little piece there; about like that, an inch long, and then tie it on with a clinch knot. Now for demonstration purposes, I am going to imagine that this marker pen is a 1 inch piece of yarn, and this cord is your leader. All you do is wrap it around and do a simple clinch knot. You make 6 turns: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and bring the end through the loop up against the yarn, or in this case, the marker pen. Moisten it with saliva so the knot won’t become hot, and friction will weaken the knot, and slide it down, and there you have the perfect system for setting up a yarn fly. It is quick and it’s easy, its expendable and it won’t injure you. "
