"Now, it?s important to remember as a beginner you are going to fall. If you feel the rope slipping out of your hands, simply let go and try and squat down and fall on your backside. You don't want to fall forward because you'll get a stiff neck or a mouth full of water. There will be times when you cannot predict when you will fall. In that case, just tuck in, if you are going forward, just tuck your neck down and try and do a summer salt. If you are going sideways, you want to get away from the skis as best you can. In other words fall into the water and let the skis come off. They will come off probably anyway, but otherwise you could turn an ankle. Now, if you're just ending your run and you just let go of your rope and again just slowly fall into the water and sit down. Important to take the slack out of the rope so that you have a taught line. That's known as, when you hear someone yell "pick up the slack", you are instructing the driver to put tension on the line between you and the boat. At that time you are ready to get into the crouch position and give the command to hit it. This has been Jay Browder on behalf of Expert Village. I hope you've enjoyed the instructional video today. Next time we'll be talking about intermediate water skiing."
