"Alright, now that you are practicing good posture, it's time to talk about upper body alignment when running. First and foremost I want you to think about your shoulder blades, they should be rolled down and back, arms should hang at your sides. Your chin is up, you're just gazing straight ahead, don't look down toward the ground, don't look up toward the sky, gaze straight ahead, OK. From here, you are going to hold your abdominal muscles in tight and your arms should swing at your sides. They should not be crossing over in front of your body. If you see a lot of new runners or a lot of beginners, what they will tend to do is cross their arms in front of their body this just increases your energy expenditure and results in poor posture. So, hands fall right at the sides of your hips, you're not making a fist but keeping your hands open, relaxed and comfortable, OK. That's proper upper body form for running."
