"In this segment I'm going to talk about how the grip influences the curve on the ball and what you could do about it. And we're going to start with the slice. Now the reason people slice is that, at address their club faces, facing the target, but at impact for some reason, the club face is aiming to the right and puts that spin on the ball. Now what could you do with your grip to correct that? In general, and it's the first thing that you should try if you slice, and that is to take your hands and make your grip stronger. Take your left hand so that you could see one, two, three, four knuckles at address. Put your right hand on the club and the line formed by the V of the thumb and forefinger should point your right shoulder or even to the right of your right shoulder. You will probably find that with that grip, you're going to start with a club in a square position and then come into the ball in a similar position. Most slices are caused by the grip being too much on top. A weaker left hand where you see one or two knuckles. A right hand where the line is either at the chin or slightly to the right of the chin, from that position you bring the club back and then when you come into the ball, your hands want to get into a more comfortable, natural position and they open up which gives you the open club face and the slice. If your ball curves left to right, if you slice, the first place to look is your grip. Take a very strong grip. Four knuckles, right hand, way over, you could say oh, but that feels uncomfortable. You know what else feels uncomfortable? When you see your ball go like this......whoa, and almost hits you in the head. Try a stronger grip and you might lose your slice."
