"In this clip were going to talk about paddle basics. And a paddle is of course something we paddle with. This is called the back it has a a spine that runs along the back of the blade. This is the face of the blade. The shaft. This is also a two piece paddle that splits apart. This is an elliptical blade so this in other words this point up here is longer that this point so this is the right side up. So when you look at your paddle it should look like this. This is upside down this is right side up. Now where to place your hands is a question we get asked often. So just as a starting point we place the paddle over our head. Slide our hands over our elbows and this is about where it should be. You can turn and look at your shadow and it should be a nice rectangle."
