"JASON SHERIDAN: On behalf of Expert Village, this is Jason Sheridan of Sheridan Fencing Academy here in New York City. Today, we're going to talk about advanced sabre fencing. In understanding how to make an attack work, it's very important that we understand how to prepare, how to create preparation. Preparation is one of the most important things to understand in sabre fencing, and the concept is changing rhythm and being surprising. What you're going to watch right now are the girls going to be moving using the same kinds of footwork we talked about earlier in the beginning section, and they're going to be creating different kinds of movement to create preparation. Watch carefully on my right, she's going to be making attack creating different preparations. Her feet will be moving in different ways. Watch carefully. Notice how sometimes it's faster and sometimes it's slower, the goal being to make the attack, to make the lunge could be surprising so her opponent does not know when it's going to come."
