" Now, let’s talk about safety when you’re out there. First thing, you want to take care of yourself but you definitely want to take care of the other people who are out on the beach at that time. You don’t know how many times I’ve seen kids come out there and they want to try it. The first thing they do it they just throw it, and they don’t even look. They end up knocking over a little kid. That doesn’t look good for fellow skimboarders like me and it doesn’t make you look good for your first time out going and knocking somebody over. So, definitely, when you’re going make sure you’ve got a clear path and make sure that no kids are planning on running. Not just kids. I’ve run into an old man who totally took it out on me and totally ruined my day, but that’s neither here nor there. Listen, safety is key. You don’t want to go out there and get hurt. I’m saying you think that because you’re only skimboarding on water that’s about this thin that you really can’t get that hurt, but that’s not exactly the case. The thing about skimboarding is you have to get it right where the water is thin for the best results. Once you hit dry sand, you’re going down. If it’s your first time out watch out for that. I’ve seen people who have tried it and they ended up hitting dry hand and knock their arm completely out of socket. It’s definitely something that you want to be careful of and be aware of that your first time out you’re going to want to do it safe and start slow so that you don’t end up hurting yourself. "
