"As you can see here, since I pulled the slide back, the firearm is cocked and we can tell here, right here on the top of the slide is a loaded chamber indicator. Now, because that indicator's down, we assume that there's no round. Now, we physically just looked so we know, right now, there's not a round, but you never want to rely on that 100%. What we're going to do is, you're always going to want to create the habit where you have to physically look inside the firearm. Now, since we just did that, we know there's not a round, but I'm going to look again anyway because I'm just not going to trust that loaded chamber indicator is 100% correct. I'm going to look back, still have an empty chamber, we have a cocked firearm. What we're going to do now is we're just going to dry-fire the firearm and, if you don't feel comfortable with doing this, you can get a snap cap which is a round that you can put in the chamber to pull the trigger on and it's a spring loaded cartridge that takes the pressure off your firing pin. I've asked a lot of experts and a lot of manufacturers, since I've been in the business, about dry-firing some of these newer firearms. In particular the XD. You have to actually pull the trigger to disassemble it as we noticed. We're going to pull the trigger and we're just going to take that pressure from the spring off of our firing pin in there. The metals today are so hard we're not doing any damage to the the firing pin. We're going to get on to storage here. We know that our firearm's empty, here's our magazine, I just personally like to keep my magazines with my firearms. We have an empty magazine here, I'm going to put it in, lock it in here, and I'm just going to hold the firearm here by the slide with my oil rag and I'm just not going to touch that metal anymore. Here's one of my silicone impregnated bags that I like to use and I'm just going to slide this inside here. You can use a smaller bag or you can hang it on a hook inside your safe. I just like to put mine inside bags inside my safe. I'm going to zip this up and you can see back here on the bag I have a little luggage lock. This is just an added bit of safety that I like to use. I'm going to use this luggage lock and I'm actually going to lock it between the zipper and this brass catch here, and that's going to give me one extra step to responsible safe storage of my firearm in my safe."
