"Here we are, we've got our XD 9mm. We've taken it down, we've cleaned it, and we reassembled it, and we just finished using our oil rag to wipe it down across the slide. Now, what we're going to do is we're get ready to store it for a little while. I haven't been working with ammunition the whole day, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to do a couple final checks to make sure that the firearm's empty. Just to help support and create a better awareness and habit for myself. I'm going to pull back the slide, I'm going to physically look to make sure that there's no round, I'm going to bring it back slowly. I'm not going to let it slam forward just simply because when you don't have a round to go in the battery, the metal hitting the barrel, the bolt face, it's just not good for the firearm. It's not that it's going to break, it's just it can put a little bit of extra wear on it."
