"Here we are, we have our XD 9mm, we have it reassembled. What we're going to do is we're going to do kind of a final wipe down. That's when I pull in my oil rag. Now, remember, this is the rag that I've never used any solvents, detergents, soaps, anything odd except for a light coat of rim oil that I put on the outside of my firearm or Break Free to preserve the metal. So, with this being a Polymer framed lower, I really only need to worry about the wipe down on the upper slide. I'm just going to do that and what this is going to do, it's going to help me get my fingerprints and some of the lint off the actual firearm. See, inside of our hands we have natural oils and those oils can create dry spots in the metal which can inhibit, or induce oxidation which can lead to rust. We're just going to wipe this down real good and we're going to touch on these. Our slide release and our take-down lever. Everything else out here is polymer. You can wipe that down if you have some excess oil, and I see a little bit here. But, we're not so worried about getting fingerprints off that. What we're going to talk about next is just basic storage and safety for our XD 9mm now that we've got it all cleaned up and ready to put up."
