Assembling the Slide of a Springfield XD 9mm Handgun

"We've reassembled our slide, we have it here. We have our barrel, we have our guide rod which is attached to our recoil spring, every thing's attached. You can see, it's not falling out, every thing's seated properly, there's no movement. We're going to look here, now, at our frame. Remember, earlier, we let our switch, our slide switch down, or our take-down switch or lever. We want that to be in the upright position again and if you look at the left hand side of the frame there, it's going to be perpendicular to the frame. Now that we have it turned up, we can take our slide, and these right here, this guide is actually the seat that going to slide inside your frame rails that are inside your slide. We're just going to take the slide in our left hand, set that seat inside the frame rails, and we're just going to move back in a slow, even motion. You're going to feel a little bit of a catch and that's the guide rod and the action and slide coming back together, you just push right past that. You're not breaking anything; it's just going to be a slight catch. You can see how it's kind of stopping you? You're just going to go right by that. At this point, we're going to be going back to step one. We're still putting our slide on but you can see our lever is not latched in. We're going to take this slide back all the way to our catch point, here. I'm going to turn this around and I'm going to do just like in the beginning, I'm going to take my right hand and I'm going to put it over the firearm. I just use that, my right hand here, as a catch for the slide. I'm going to use my left hand to inch the slide back. You can feel it moving back and see me catching it with my hand. When we get to that point, I'm just holding it here with my right hand, I'm just going to flip that switch then I'm just going to let my slide come back nice and slow. That is an assembled Springfield XD 9mm."
