"Now that I've got the bottom of the bolt cleaned up, I'm going to move over and I'm going to clean up this bolt face real good because this is where a lot of our action happens here. This is our ejector, this is our firing pin, this is our loaded chamber indicator, this is our bolt face and there's a lot of wear and tear that happens in this area so we're going to actually give this a little bit of extra TLC, or I like to give this a little bit of TLC. What I like to start with is a Q-tip. I just wipe it around in these corners, here. Pretty good wipe and you can see we're pulling out a pretty good amount. There's a lot of working motion when your cartridge comes out and that ejector flings your spent casing out. Not all black powder always burns up so just a little bit of that residue is always going to come in here and it's in a heated state. When it hits in a heated state and it cools down, it's actually like a baking process. It's going to heat on and then it's going to harden to your metal surfaces. This is actually an area that you should feel free to spend a lot of extra time. What I'm going to do now is switch over to a patch. I'm going to grab a clean patch, here, and I'm going to just fold it in half. I'm going to set it in here and I'm going to get my trusty screwdriver here and I'm really going to get inside these corners. I'm really wanting to use this as well because this screwdriver is going to enable me to get that one layer of patch under that ejector. Which is going to help out and I can clean it. That and the screwdriver lets me get all around my loaded chamber indicator, which is right here. When you have in the chamber that let's you know. On an XD 9mm, it lifts up and lets you know that there's a round in the chamber. A real nice added feature to the XD. Alright, I'll keep scrubbing away here. Remember, we want to get to that point where we're not pulling off a lot of dirt. See, we're still pulling off a little bit of dirt, here, on this bolt face. That's where we can get a little bit more and I can see where it's coming from and you'll be able to see the same, you'll see the build-up in these corners. That's where you just use your patch and your screwdriver. Alright, that's actually coming out clean now. What I'm going to do now is I'm just going to wipe the outside of the frame. We've done our scrubbing, this will be a quick wipe down, we're going to grab a couple clean patches and we're just going to do it."
