"We have our XD 9mm broken down, we have our magazine, our empty magazine, we have our lower receiver and here we have our slide unit. Now, our slide unit consists of a guide rod, which has got a coil-over guide which I'll touch on, our barrel and bolt, and our slide. Our first step into doing this, into this take-down, is we're actually going to take out this coil-over guide rod and recoil spring here. What I'm going to do is I just like to lay my slide on it's back, or on the top of the slide, just like so. I'm just going to take the slide in my left hand, hold on to it here, and I'm going to take my right thumb and that guide rod there is seated right up against a machine part at the base of the barrel. What I'm going to do is take my thumb and just slightly push in that guide rod and lift up. That's just going to enable us to take out the guide rod. We're not going to break this coil-over down because we need a couple extra special tools. But that was our step in taking out our guide rod. The next thing we're going to work on is taking out the barrel or the slide."
