Supplies for Cleaning a Springfield XD 9mm Handgun

"Here we are, we got our XD 9 here. We're just going to go over a few of these things that we're going to need to clean this handgun. We got our bore light, here. What we're going to use this bore light for is that's going to help us look inside the barrel and some of these areas inside the actual receiver. Maybe show us a little bit of dirt and grime. You can see a little series of brushes here. What these brushes are going to do is I'm going to use these at different points. I may not use all of, but we're going to use a few of these at different points to do different things. I may use this brass, I like to use this little, this light brass brush here to get inside a little bit smaller area the same as I like to use these nylon brushes when I'm using it on areas that I don't want to use something still like this light steel brush here. This little flat blade screwdriver I'm going to use in conjunction with these patches. These patches we're going to use as a wipe-down tool once we have our firearm taken down and soaking. Same thing with the Q-tips, this is going to help enable us to get inside smaller areas inside the receiver. Areas that we can't get our fingers because our fingers are just too big to go in. An oil rag. This is my oil rag, here. I simply call this my oil rag because I've never used anything on it but oil. We're going to use this as the end to wipe down and do a final wipe and clean of the firearm. We have our Bore Snake in 9mm here. This is going to be used to facilitate the cleaning of the inside of the barrel. We're going to use that in conjunction with Hoppe's Number Nine. Hoppe's Number Nine is a copper solvent that's going to let us really break down and scrub out the copper jacketing from full metal jackets and even the lead deposits from the 9mm casings. We have our rim oil, we're going to use this as a lubricant on our slide. We have our Break-Free, and this is kind of our go-to spray here, this Break-Free. For myself, I'm going to use this Break-Free all over the firearm itself and that's going to help clean, lubricate, and preserve a lot of these moving parts and mechanisms inside this firearm. We have some gun oil wipes, here, if we get down to the end and we feel like we need to just put an extra wipe on it and this is going to be put up for awhile. We'll pull out a gun wipe or two and really wipe this down before we put it up for storage. So the next thing we're going to talk about is we're going to talk a little bit about basic handling and firearm safety before we get started in our take-down cleaning process."
