Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Jan Kain, and continuing on with your Tai Chi lesson today, we're going to learn single whip. That posture follows the grasping the sparrow's tail which we just completed. So here you are in the push stance. We're now going to move on to single whip. So both hands are going to come, slowly and carefully, right about eye level and you are going to do a little spine twist, this is great for your spine. Go ahead and turn the right toes in, hands are still going to follow; palms come in close to the body. The right hand keeps moving, makes a little eagle's beak and then go ahead and look at your right hand, pick up your left foot. So you are working huge balance challenge right here. Carefully step out with the left heel, toe, shift the weight forward as you open the hand. So you're weight is slightly forward to the left. So this is called single whip. You will be seeing it repeat a lot in the Tai Chi form. And the next move we'll do is called playing the guitar."
