Mixed Martial Arts Kickboxing, normally associated with cage fighting, blends many different fighting forms including: Muay Thai Kickboxing, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Wrestling. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has gained in popularity since the first Ultimate Fighting Championship won by Royce Gracie. It is so popular it will soon become an Olympic Event and was actually set to be included in the 2004 games but lost its place at the last minute. "JASON JEANETTE: Hi, I'm Jason Jeannette. This is Daniel Klapheke from Elite Martial Arts of Middle Tennessee for Expert Village. DANIEL KLAPHEKE: We'll be teaching you some techniques from our Elite Modern Mixed Martial Arts System, which is a style of tactical MMA. JASON JEANETTE: By tactical, we mean street-applicable and not sport-applicable. Mixed martial arts has a unified set of rules that doesn't allow eye gouges, biting, groin strikes, things like that, which are very handy tools to have in a street fight or a life-or-death situation. In a mixed martial arts match, I can hold someone down for five minutes and hit them and win the match; but in a street fight, if there are other people around that are not on my side, that would be trouble. DANIEL KLAPHEKE: Our system is a mixture of Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and some Israeli hand-to-hand fighting. And what we're going to be showing you today is a version of the sport fighting and a version of the street fighting, so we'll show you two different versions each time."
