"If you are planning to stand hunt, one of the common methods is a deer feeder or some other kind of feeder to attract deer to bring them in close enough to get a shot. Common obviously the most common type of feed to use is corn. There is also protein feeders and various other feeders. You can also besides using a feeder you can drive in put corn out as your driving in to help attract the deer. Typically corn feeders run, you can set them as many times a day as you want, but typically they run once in the morning and then once in the evening to kind of go around your hunting periods and hunting times. The fence if you are in an area that has javelina or hogs or other type of animals. Deer typically do not like feeding with these animals and they can come to dominate a feeding area. You can set up a fence around the deer feeding, the deer feeder and the deer feeding pen to help prevent the hogs or javelina from getting this corn and preserving it for your deer so that the deer develop a regular pattern. Typically a deer, you want the feeder to be set up 3 to 4 weeks in advance of hunting season so the deer get use to the sound of it spinning and create the instinct for the corn coming out for the deer to come feed."
