"There are various times of the year when it becomes legal to deer hunt, based upon various factors. Based upon the state you are in, the more north you are typically the earlier hunting seasons are and then within the state. Texas specifically there is a north zone and a south zone. A typical hunting season runs from beginning to mid November to beginning of January depending on what zone you are in. There is also other extensions of that. For instance there is a youth hunting season which is restricted just to youth. I believe under the age of 12 and then there is also bow season which comes before deer hunting season and is typically a time specially just designated for bow hunting. Other ways if you are a land owner there are other programs you can use to better manage your deer herd which can extend the season both before and after. This is a fairly lengthy process working with game wardens and getting the proper licenses but you can extend the season from early November all the way into February with the proper permits and equipment. Check with your local area, various hunting seasons, in Texas there is a book produced once a year. The Texas parks and wildlife produce it. You can buy it on line, you can order a copy that designates all the various hunting seasons for both deer, birds, and other types of wildlife."
