Hunting, whether for food, recreation or trade has been a popular activity for centuries. Hunting is regulated by different seasons when the animals (such as deer) are in need of wildlife management. Hunting was the basis of early hunter-gatherer societies and evolved into a sport for aristocrats and clergy members in the medieval times. Hunting with dogs became popular during these times and many breeds were named in regards to their hunting abilities (i.e. Setter and Pointer). Modern sport hunting is divided into recreational and trophy hunting. Some people hunt for the experience and the atmosphere; others hunt for trophy titles of mature animals.
In this free video series, our expert Jason Kaspar will show you how to hunt deer. He will show you all the hunting supplies, clothing, licenses, rifles, & optics you'll need to hunt deer. Jason will show you how to score antlers, all about the rutting period, how to hunt from a stand and by stalking, and how to track deer and understand the effect of the phases of the moon on deer hunting. Jason will also teach you about deer hunting rattling including rattling items and how to locate the rattling. Finally Jason will teach you how to stand and shoot a deer with shooting techniques and tips for deer hunting, and then show you how to clean and quarter a deer after you've killed it, ending with how to clean the gun and take care of the deer meat.
"Okay, we are going to talk about what you need to go deer hunting. There is four basic things that a very minimum you need. The first one is a hunting license. Various states have their hunting license which you can get at different locations. But to legally hunt you need what the proper license to go hunting. The second thing you need is a hunter’s safety course card which is also various states have various laws surrounding this. This is one from Texas which is a typical two day course. The third thing you need is a deer hunting rifle. There are many various rifles to choose from. This is a 30.06. We will talk about the various hunting rifle options a little later. And then fourthly obviously you need a shell. And the hunting shell must be chosen by grain and they type of deer you are hunting, location. The northern United States deer are bigger than the southern. So those are the four minimum things. Other things that can be used as accessories to your hunt are various optics; spotting scope right here or you can use a pair of binoculars. Both of these aid you in looking at the deer and being able to tell the various characteristics of the animal that you are hunting. Judging deer antler size and etc. Other thing that you can use is original spray or some kind of scent neutralizer cause deer number one defense mechanism is their nose. And then also be prepared with various knives and hatchets for cleaning a deer which we will talk about also a little later. Then finally you know if you get more advanced you can use rattling horns to help attract simulate a deer fight. To attract deer on also various other scents such a doe in heat gel or buck urine also to attract various scents. Those are some of the basic tools that you can use to hunt with and there are many more out there you know from cameras to various things. But it is a good start on what you need to deer hunt."
