"So when a boat flips over, you have to figure out how to get to shore. There are a couple of ways to do it, but you have to think quickly and react quickly, otherwise it keeps going down stream. It's not going to stop. What you want to do is if you're in your kayak, you want to line the boat you're rescuing up in almost a fairy angle. Then you'd come up with your boat and you can actually just bump it to shore. So as long as you set that boat in a fairy angle, you can keep it upside down and keep bumping it to shore. I'll show you back this way. So if I was in my kayak, I'd come on this side and keep bumping it to shore like so. Some people like to flip the kayak upright. That's fine. It may be a little bit full of water so it takes a little bit more effort, but you can flip it up right like so even though it's got some water in it and you can just push it to shore. That's another way to get that boat to shore that way your hands are free and you're not pushing anything. Just give it a little push once again and it could slide to shore. Again, think about using the current to your advantage versus disadvantage. You want to always kind of use that current to fairy the boat across the shore. Some folks can actually do a boat over boat rescue, which takes a little bit more time. That's pulling the boat up on your deck, flipping the water over, turning it upright and then pushing it ashore with less weight in it because the water is all out. These are different strategies to get it to shore, but the key thing is use the river not your muscle to get it to shore."
