"So you want to purchase a surfboard. There are many places to purchase a surfboard. You can buy surfboards brand new. You can buy surfboards custom made for yourself. You can buy used surfboards; you can make your own surfboard. There are many ways to obtain a surfboard. What we all know is the surf shop is the best place to get the mainstream type of boards that we all know about. A surfboard ranges anywhere from $100-$1000 depending on if it's new or used or if it's a custom board or not. Long board, short board. Surf shops sell everything from wax all the way up to bikinis for women, to shoes, to sunglasses, wetsuits, rash guards, leashes, watches, stickers, magazines, t shirts, board shorts. Everything you need to get yourself down to the beach to look like a surfer or to become a surfer. If you need to find a surf shop, you can try surfing the web or you could try a phone book. You could ask a surfer what's their favorite surf shop to go buy wax. You could look at bumper stickers. You could look at people’s surfboards that have sponsors on them. The best way to get started would be to find a surf shop, go ask about lessons, go ask about board rentals and then continue on there for purchasing a surfboard. For a beginner, your best board to be buying would be a long board. Soft-top will be a little bit easier to learn on in case you fall off like Sean did. You don't want to hit you head. You can buy a helmet. You can buy boogie boards. There are multiple choices of boards, colors, size, tail pads, and fin selections. There's about say 200 different surf board manufactures at any given surf shop. Whatever you need go to your local surf shop, and have a wonderful day."
