"Hey this is Hugo at Expert Village. This segment is on scouting for dove and quail. Now I know you are probably sitting there thinking how do you scout for dove and quail? Well it's really pretty simple actually. It takes some time and dedication to knowing the game animal. If you are hunting dove for instance, if you are scouting for them you want to check out the fields that you are going to be hunting in. Scouting can make the different between shooting a dove a two or getting your limit in just a few minutes or hours. Dove will fly along certain type patterns. They will follow terrain changes and lines. If you just spend a little bit of time scouting a field and knowing how the birds are entering and exiting that field it will make the biggest difference. When you and your hunting party go into the field you will know where to set up; it maybe along a hedgerow or a fence line or a particular point or a tree. Whatever it is take the time to scout and see how the birds are using that field to enter and exit and fly around. Now, if you're scouting for quail it maybe a little bit different a lot of times people will set up quail feeders or places that the quail can eat and get the food that they need. It's simply a matter of knowing the edge cover there for quail. You can check that out through just drives around if you kick up different coveys in the area or just knowing where the food is in order to kind of scout for that. Your best scout for quail hunting is probably going to be a dog. They are going to let you know where the coveys are. You don't really have to scout a whole lot for quail, but you do need to know where the feed is located and that will give you a greater probability for success."
