"Okay in this segment we're going to show how to use the backhand slice/block return. So if you watch the top pro's not all of them are like Andre Agassi he just T's off on every serve. Federer, Sampris and other great players will slice the ball back. So we're going to have Ken demonstrating the backhand slice; I'm going to serve from the middle of the court. So the backhand slice; generally you're not going to hit a winning return but you, you can ship it; you can, which means you can come in behind it. You can just hit it deep, you can take pace off the ball; keep it low. So the most important thing if you're playing a really good server is getting the ball back. You don't want to just give up free points. So the slice, the slice/block is a great component of a good returnee’s game. So I'm going to slice to Ken, I'm going to hit the serve from the mid court here to Kens backhand and Ken's just going to slice it back. Alright Ken. And here we go again. And turn and slice; and again; turn and slice, very nice. So you can see how this shot has a lot of control. And it's a very simple shot and if you can return somebody's first serve with a nice block or slice; you can also use it in the second serve but if you can get the first serve back consistently a lot time players then try to hit the first serve so hard that they miss. Then you're going to get a second serve which then you can attack. And that's what the pro's do, is they want to look at that second serve. So do this drill, practice this way and your serve returns will improve immensely."
