"Okay, with this shot the idea is to open the face. We're going to get the ball as high as we can off the front wall which will then put it to our opponents back hand side. So the idea is when you open the face a lot, you want your opponent to also think that maybe you might drop shot; maybe you're going to hit a length, so there they can't shoot up on you. But technically how I want you to hit this shot is I'm going to throw the ball; so you see I get underneath the ball and I go up. So I have the face open and it's as if I'm throwing salt over my shoulder. So just like that and that puts it nice into the back corner. So the idea is to get the ball real high so your opponent can't volley overhead it. So let's try that again. So you see I'm underneath the ball and I just come up on it. So that's what you want to do is stay away from the ball. And this is a good drill to practice with a friend; if you have them hit a boast to you then you can hit a lob off of it. But by yourself... So these are really deadly shots, so you just toss it; you'll open the face. Now you don't swing with your arm; you use the hip and shoulder. So it's as if you're throwing something over your shoulder. So that's how you hit this lob, it's really, you're kind of cutting the ball. That's why it's important to do the drill we did earlier where you just hit it straight up and then you combined it with this, and you'll get a really good lob. "
