"Hi! I’m Heather McCanna for expertvillage.com and in this clip I’ll be discussing where to stretch. If you have a gym membership, a gym would be a great place to stretch for your gymnastics warm-ups. Many gyms have an area laid out where there’s no equipment and there’s just a firm surface where you can actually sit on the floor to perform your stretches. Many of them have special mats that you can also lay down on the floor. If you don’t have a gym member ship however, you can also perform these stretches in your own home. An open space such as a living room or an entry way would be a great place to perform these stretches, as there is a lot of open space. The best type of surface at your own home would be a carpeted area because it is soft yet firm. If you don’t have a carpeted area at home, you can also purchase your own mat for stretching, which they sell at many athletic department stores. This mat can be spread along the floor and also will provide a soft yet firm area for you to stretch. If you don’t want to purchase a mat, you can also use a blanket that you might have laying around your own home and you can spread that out on a hard surface to provide yourself with a great area for gymnastics stretching.
