"This Gene Mortensen with the Oklahoma Golf Association I'm talking to you about the rules of golf. I like to mention something about rule eleven the teeing ground. The teeing ground is the area where you start each of the eighteen holes. Its basically defined by tee markers which are the stones and its two club lengths from this edge. So this represents the back side of the teeing ground and the area in that boundary. In order to comply with the rules it is acceptable to play the ball from the tee. It is acceptable to play the ball from the irregularity which you would create with a club or a shoe. It is also acceptable to play from a pile of sand you could also create. If you play from any other device or use a tee that is hight then four inches you would be disqualified. Player must be from within the area of the teeing ground as I had defined. Here is a ball that I have teed up and ready to go. Since it is behind that official teeing ground you may not play that ball. It is acceptable to stand outside of the teeing ground to play a ball in the teeing ground. So this would be acceptable shot. In match play if you play from outside the teeing ground your opponent has the ability to recall a shot and ask you to play it again. In stroke play if you play from outside of the teeing ground you have a two stroke penalty and you mush correct the error by playing within the appropriate teeing ground. If you play the next hole without correcting this mistake you will be disqualified."
