"Hi my name is Geoff Sterling. I am with Hollywood Soo Bahk Do and what I am going to be showing you today is a side stance. On this stance you have really got to get down low. This stance is the most intense on the thighs. Your legs are out this way a bit wider than shoulder length apart and you squat way down low like this. You can really feel it here. It has a big base in this. Besides the side stance it is also called the horse riding stance and I actually competed on this show with this stance and did very well because I was able to stay very low. This is the horse riding stance and when you move out of this you will be in an open stance not a closed stance. When you move you are going to push off and open this way then rotate. Let me show you from this angle here. To move out of a side stance you are going to push off the back leg like you are kicking a soccer ball. You are here this way kicking a soccer ball and then your hips are going to pop out and twist out. See here. Again stay low and you also want to make sure you are in that tunnel. You can get a work out staying that low and I may try it some time. I actually do try it but I should do it more often because it is really a good stance and I didn't really talk about stances in the kicking section but we are doing some of those kicks like the side kick, the horse ride stance, stepping behind and kicking come here and kick. So that was the side stance or the horse riding stance, otherwise known. Thank you for watching Hollywood Soo Bahk Do."
